Welcome to Andaman Law College, a prestigious institution established with a vision to provide exceptional legal education and foster the growth of legal minds. Andaman Law College, located on the picturesque island of Andaman, has emerged as a prominent centre of excellence in legal studies. It came into existence in the year 2016 under the aegis of Andaman and Nicobar Islands Legal Education Society (ANILES) registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, fully funded by the A & N Administration & governed by its own rules and regulations. The ANILES is chaired by Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of A & N Islands as President of the society and the Chief Secretary and Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Education, A & N Administration is the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Executive Council of ANILES respectively.

The college is recognized by the Bar Council of India and affiliated to the prestigious Pondicherry University. The institution offers a full-time Five Years Integrated B.A.LL.B. Degree Programme designed to impart a strong foundation in legal principles, constitutional law, criminal law, contract law, and more. To ensure the high-quality education, the course is taught by the experienced faculty members selected by strictly adhering to the BCI and UGC regulations. At Andaman Law College, education goes beyond classrooms and the students are encouraged to participate in extracurricular activities, moot court competitions, debates, legal workshops and seminars. These activities help students develop practical skills, critical thinking abilities and improve their overall personality. The college is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to enhance the learning experience. The library houses an extensive collection of legal resources, including books, journals and online databases. Smart Classrooms, Moot Court, Computer Lab and a well-equipped auditorium provide students with a holistic learning environment.

The college at present housed in Transport Bhawan owned by the Government till a new campus is built with all the necessary modern facilities and infrastructure for Andaman Law College. Sincere steps are being taken to get land allotted for Andaman Law College. Moreover, the proactive approach and commitment of the A & N Administration and the collective efforts of the officials, faculty members and the administrative staff, the Andaman Law College will soon emerge as a model Law College and become visible in the map of legal education in India within a few years.

Vision and Mission

The vision of Andaman Law College is to provide legal education, legal services and research in the field of law in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. To achieve the said objectives, Andaman Law College aims:

a) To disseminate legal knowledge by teaching, research, seminar, lectures, conferences and symposia.

b) To promote legal awareness in the community for achieving social, economic and political justice.

c) To promote cultural, legal and ethical values with a view to foster the Rule of Law as the objective enshrined in the Constitution of India.

d) To develop the students a sense of responsibility to serve society in the field of law.

Accreditation

The B.A., LL.B., degree course offered in Andaman Law College is provisionally affliated to Pondicherry University and also recognised by the Bar Council of India.

ANILES and Organization Structure

The Affairs of the ANILES are administered by three governing bodies namely the General Body, the Executive Council and the Academic Council, which are created by the Rules and Regulations of the ANILES. The Hon'ble Lieutenant Governor, Chief Secretary and Secretary (Law) are the President, Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the ANILES respectively. The Rules and Regulations of the ANILES define the constitution, functions and duties of the governing bodies.

Andaman Law College firmly believes in democratic ideals, transparency of information and accountability to the public. The Principal of the college is the Public Information Officer and the Deputy Secretary (Law & Jail), A & N Administration is the Appellate Authority for providing required information relating to the activities of the college under section 4 of the Right to Information Act, 2005
